The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) seeks to identify, prevent and remove barriers for those living with disabilities in Manitoba. The Act became law in December 2013 and is now undergoing a review of its disability standards that cover the areas of customer service, employment, information and communication, transportation and the built environment.
The AMA grants authority for making recommendations on the development of accessibility standards to the Accessibility Advisory Council (Council). A briefing paper including a draft of the Proposed Accessibility Standard for Employment can be found here
At this time, the Council is seeking recommendations from the public on the new standards and HRMAM would like to encourage our members to become involved in the process.
A public forum will be held on January 18, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Viscount Gort Hotel. Alternatively, you may submit your comments on the proposed standard by February 15, 2017 to:
