There’s a buzz in major organizations and consulting firms about it. And now, Ernst & Young is asking the question – what if the next big disruptor we see isn’t a WHAT but a WHO.

We’re talking about Gen Z. The teens, teenagers and young adults born between 1997-2003 are quickly becoming one of the most influential groups of consumers, members and volunteers. Gen Z is different than the millennials born right before them in many ways, shaped by the experiences of growing up as the first true digital natives in a world where all they really want is for people to be nice and accepting of all differences.

We will not be able to convince this generation to become a part of something simply because everyone else is doing it. They need to feel a connection and a value in getting involved. It’s important to start thinking now about how your organization can start creating loyalty with this next generation! A few quick hits for making sure your organization is something Gen Z wants to be a part of:

• Intuitively deliver on their constantly evolving needs

• Make them part of the solution

• Demonstrate respect and loyalty before asking for it
