Longtime AGC Houston friend Ray Leiker announced his retirement from Shepley Bulfinch as an Architect on October 1. In a message addressed to AGC Houston President/CEO Jerry Nevlud, he addressed the impact his relationships have marked on his career. Below is his note:
"For nearly 46 years, I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with great people; experiencing and learning more than I could have ever dreamed.  It has been a journey filled with great memories of projects and people from my beginnings at CRS, many years at Bailey Architects, and now at Shepley Bulfinch."

AGC Houston members are invited to join the Houston Revit Users group, which meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Revit and BIM application users range from beginner to expert skill levels. Since 2002, the Houston Area Revit Users Group (HARUG) has been the main resource in the area for Revit Users, AutoCAD Architecture (previously Architectural Desktop), AutoCAD and other BIM-related tools.

Associated General Contractors of America CEO Stephen E. Sandherr issued the following statement in response to the House Education and the Workforce Committee’s newly released composite retirement plan concept:

Each year the AGC Education and Research Foundation offers
undergraduate and graduate level scholarships to students enrolled in ABET or
ACCE accredited construction management or construction related engineering programs.
The applicationopened July 1, 2016 and closes November 1, 2016. 


Over $10 million in scholarships have been awarded to more than 4,000 students attending colleges and universities across the country. Through endowments made by AGC members and supporters, as well as AGC Chapters, the Education and Research Foundation awards over 100 scholarships each year to students dedicated to pursuing a career in the construction industry.

Here's Looking at You

More than 500 AGC members, guests and industry partners filled The Astorian to celebrate some of the industry's best projects at the APEX 12 Gala on Saturday, September 10, 2016. A total of 52 gold, silver and bronze awards were presented in 18 categories to recognize projects for their excellence in design and construction, contributions to the community, and advancement to the commercial building industry. The event also served to pay homage to Paul Bell, Jr. with the 2016 Master Builder Award.





Congratulations to the AGC Houston members who won awards and special thanks to all who made this gala outstanding!
