This year's conference, June 12-13, 2014, in Arlington, Virginia, is your chance to get up-to-date information on environmental compliance and sustainability issues. Federal agency representatives will be onsite participating in the conference—and ready to answer questions.

For AEC professionals, the AGC Certificate of Management - Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM) is an assessment-based certificate credential that denotes knowledge and understanding of concepts related to BIM adoption, practice and process transformation outlined in the AGC BIM Education Program.

Completion of this course meets the requirements of OSHA Paragraph 1926.50, and participants will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid and CPR/AED wallet card valid for two years upon course completion.

This presentation will address the complexities of the bidding process, including how long a bid remains binding and what should be done when you find a bid mistake.

This course covers the role and responsibility of the employer to develop and implement an energy-control program, or lock-out/tagout (LOTO) for the protection of workers while performing servicing and maintenance activities on machinery and equipment.

AGC Houston is excited to bring this new, hands-on course for supervisors and workers involved in rigging or hoisting operations while using cranes, heavy equipment, truck cranes or other equipment in any industry.

This course is designed to provide an entry-level construction worker's general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site.

This course covers OSHA Electrical Standards and the hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. Course topics include single- and three-phase systems, cord- and plug-connected and fixed equipment, grounding, ground fault circuit interrupters, and safety-related work practices.

This course covers the various types of common machinery, machine safeguards, and related OSHA regulations and procedures. Program highlights include the ability to recognize hazards and provide options for control and hazard abatement through machines safeguarding inspection workshops.

This course covers the OSHA Standards, policies and procedures in the construction industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA Construction Standards, construction safety and health principles, and special emphasis on those areas in construction that are most hazardous.

Memorial Hermann Health System is set to break ground on a $650 million expansion and renovation project at its Texas Medical Center campus and this is just one of several projects in the city's construction pipeline. Currently more than $1 billion worth of health care projects are in various stages of development in the city, including a project for Methodist Hospital. "We're expanding capacity where parts of the community are growing," said Sid Sanders, Methodist's senior vice president. "It's really being driven by demand. We're trying to find a balance and staying ahead of the curve."

AGC updates and maps the states, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, that have state law authorizing CM At-Risk, Design-Build, and P3 projects through the Construction State Law Matrix at www.agc.org/slm. In 2013, the Matrix reported 10 new states with laws allowing CM At-Risk on transportation projects. This brings the total of jurisdictions with at least some authority for CM At-Risk for transportation projects to 35. As of 2014, 39 jurisdictions now have at least some form of P3 authority. New reference maps show legal authority for design-build, CM At-Risk and P3 state authority under the AGC construction law page.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division has increased its focus on identifying and resolving instances of employer retaliation against workers in the Southwestern U.S. In fiscal year 2012, the division concluded seven cases where employers were accused of retaliating against workers.
