AGC Houston Hosts 31st Annual BBQ Cook-Off

On March 31 - April 1, 2023, the Houston commercial construction industry came together for AGC Houston's 31st Annual BBQ Cook-Off. 

This year’s event raised $25,000 for Camp Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides a caring and positive environment for soldiers, veterans, and their families while they receive treatment for combat-related PTSD.

AGC Workforce Development Scholarship

The AGC Education and Research Foundation offers Workforce Development Scholarships to students enrolled in accredited technical schools or craft training programs in any discipline of commercial construction. Students in technical or approved craft training programs will have until June 1 to apply for $1,000 scholarships (renewal for up to two years) from the AGC Education and Research Foundation.

The AGC Education and Research Foundation is committed to taking steps to ensure students have the technical skills needed to immediately enter into the commercial construction workforce. For further questions, contact Paige Packard, paige.packard@agc.org.

We’re NOT going to have the April safety meeting here at AGC Houston. Instead, we encourage you to attend the Fall Protection Alliance event on 4/28 at the Houston Area Safety Council in Deer Park to kick off our (AGC’s) fall prevention stand down campaign. AGC OF AMERICA-OSHA SUSAN HARWOOD GRANT TRAINING: FALL PREVENTION IN CONSTRUCTION-3 CLASS OPTIONS AVAILABLE

NO-COST one-day fall prevention training program based on OSHA standards and best practices. Course is offered in both English and Spanish. Topics will cover fall protection statistics, OSHA standards for fall protection, how to identify fall hazards, selection and criteria of fall protection systems and equipment, and fall protection training requirements. Students will be provided training materials and digital certificate of attendance.
