AGC Houston Hosts Annual Chapter Meeting

On February 1, 2023, more than 260 AGC Houston members gathered at the Junior League of Houston for our Annual Chapter Meeting.

Those who attended the meeting got to hear from Steve Sandherr, President of Associated General Contractors of America, on what AGC of America is doing at a national level and provided a political and economic lookahead from the national perspective. In addition to this, he explained the advocacy issues AGC of America is dealing with and how they're working to overcome them.

Members also got to hear from Corbin Van Arsdale, President of Texas Building Branch, who spoke of the upcoming Texas legislative session, gave a recap of the past Texas elections and explained how this could impact the session, and encouraged members to attend AGC-TBB Legislative Day (March 8th).

At the event, the Standard of Excellence award was presented to John Morvant of Tellepsen. Established in 1998, this prestigious award gives special recognition to an outstanding construction industry employee who exemplifies the highest standards of excellence. The award criteria is based on commitment to teamwork, professionalism, leadership, creativity and innovation, customer and community service, and passion for the industry.

In addition, the William H. Scott III Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Tara Kirkland of Ashton Sawing & Drilling, LLC. In honor of the AGC’s only two-time Board Chair, and longtime member volunteer, the William H. Scott III Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes a member who has gone above and beyond to help support the chapter and industry.

Thank you to everyone who attended and sponsored the event. We look forward to a great year with our members!
