Fellow GTLA Members,

Welcome to your Annual GTLA Convention Edition of In The Know. In this month’s newsletter, we have put together everything you need to know as you prepare to join us in Atlanta next month for the 2013 GTLA Annual Convention & Gala.

We take great pride in ensuring that the Annual Convention meets or exceeds all of your expectations.I want to thank those of you who have provided feedback through the years to help us make the 2013 Convention the best one yet! I want to especially thank Education Chair Marc Howard and Executive Director Emily Wring for the great work they have and are doing this year on GTLA’s behalf.

To meet the varying interests of our members, there is a wide variety of educational tracks available to Convention attendees this year, including: Champions Trial Skills, Ethics, Evidence, Managing Marketing and Technology, Motor Vehicle, New Plaintiffs Lawyers, Nursing Home, Premises Liability, Professional Liability, Professionalism and Trucking. Due in large part to the hard work of our Program Chairs, these tracks are sure to offer something for everyone, and will feature a lineup of speakers that is truly second-to-none.

To take a look at the full lineup of speakers, schedule of events – including the always-popular GTLA Gala – and to reserve your spot, be sure to check out the 2013 Annual Convention Brochure or sign up online

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Jay Sadd
GLTA President

12:30 PM–1:30 PM Professionalism Lunch Presentation with Author Curtis Wilkie
The Fall of the House of Zeus chronicles the meteoric rise and mythic-proportioned
fall of the Mississippi trial lawyer, Dickie Scruggs. Professor Wilkie is currently
the Overby Fellow and Kelly G. Cook Chair of Journalism at the University of
Mississippi. Fall, which was reviewed in the Summer 2011 edition of The Verdict
shows how Scruggs, arguably at one time the nation’s wealthiest trial lawyer, ends
his legal career in shame as a convicted felon, largely because of uncontrollable
greed. Professor Wilkie has graciously offered to sign The Fall of the House of Zeus
which will be available for purchase in the meeting room through A Capella Books.
