The GTLA Justice Tour - which is giving members in every corner of Georgia the opportunity to engage in our political and legislative efforts like never before - is coming to Augusta on Thursday, August 11. To be hosted at The Pinnacle Club (699 Broad Street #1600, Augusta, GA 30901), the Justice Tour will feature a candid, members-only roundtable with GTLA leadership from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., which will be followed by a Judicial & Legislative Reception from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. This is an event that you won't want to miss! GTLA's Grassroots Program continues its fast start to the summer, and last week saw great events in Marietta and Carrollton. The Cobb County Trial Lawyers Association (pictured below) welcomed GTLA members Keenan Nix and Darren Summerville to present on trial strategy at their monthly lunch meeting at WR Social House on Marietta Square, and later in the week, the West Georgia Trial Lawyers Association welcomed Bill Wright of Ringler Associates to discuss structured settlements with the group.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 LEAD Program! GTLA's LEAD (Leadership Education & Advanced Direction) Program has earned a well-deserved reputation as the premier leadership and legal training program for young trial lawyers in our state. Designed to recognize the rising stars of GTLA and to provide them with the necessary tools to succeed both in and out of the courtroom, we have already seen LEAD alumni join the GTLA Executive Committee, take on active leadership roles in our lobbying efforts in Atlanta and D.C., raise thousands of dollars for our Civil Justice PAC and elected officials, and so much more. GTLA's LEAD Program will provide an intimate (12-15 member) class of participants with hands-on, practical legal education, leadership training and unparalleled networking opportunities over the course of the sessions. For trial lawyers looking to make an impact both in the courtroom and our association, there is simply no better way to jump-start your legal career than through the GTLA LEAD Program. Current members who are 35-years-old or younger OR who have less than 10 years of practice experience are eligible to apply, and all applications must be received by Friday, August 5th.

Be sure to make plans for you and/or your legal support staff to join us at the 2016 Paralegal & Legal Assistant Workshop at the State Bar of Georgia on August 17! More than ever before, this year's Workshop will be focused on tangible, practical and useful tips that paralegals and legal assistants can immediately bring back to practice and put into action. The cost for the full-day workshop is just $99 for current GTLA paralegal members ($129 for non-members), but paralegals/legal assistants can also still join GTLA for the yearly rate of just $55 and pay the members' rate for the workshop. This event is always a sell out, so be sure to sign up early!
