Verdict

As we journey deeper into the digital age, it becomes increasingly more important for law firms and lawyers to understand the ins and outs of managing the electronically stored confidential client data in their firms. This applies to the large corporate law firms as well as your run-of-the- mill solo practitioner shops. This article is meant to assist those less privy to IT security and provides some steps those lawyers and law firms can take in order to safeguard electronically stored confidential client data. The era where law firms stored physical files in their offices or in a rented space near their offices is quickly coming to an end. These days it is much more cost-effective (and user-friendly) to store client data digitally, either in the cloud or an on-premise server. However, regardless of where your firm digitally stores sensitive client data, safeguards must be put in place in order to prevent disclosing that data to unwanted eyes or invasive threats.

Grassroots Report

Last week, the Wiregrass TLA hosted an extremely successful kickoff with their Happy Hour & Summer Social at the Booger Bottom Yacht Club on Lake Blackshear. Dozens of trial lawyers, sponsors and friends came together for an evening of cocktails and camaraderie, and we were honored to be joined by state representatives Mike Cheokas (R - Americus) and Patty Bentley (D - Butler), as well as nearly the entire Bench from the area.

Through GTLA's partnership with Amplify Savings, we are pleased to deliver savings on two of the largest non-payroll related spending areas attorneys have - up to 40 percent savings on the shipping of documents with FedEx and, depending on the area, up to 72 percent off items at Staples. We are able to deliver 40 percent in discounts on standard overnight, 37.5 percent on two-day and three-day saver, together with 50 percent on international shipping and discounts on ground services. And while Staples is known for its paper/toner and office supplies, these savings extend to furniture, computer equipment, coffee, water and other regularly used items. In addition there are no minimums and no contracts required – irrespective of levels of spend.
