New Lawyers Division
GTLA New Lawyers Division members volunteered on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015 with Atlanta’s Project Open Hand Pantry Program. The Pantry Program provides a weekly supply of nonperishable groceries to low-income individuals with critical, chronic or terminal illnesses who are able to prepare their own meals, but who do not have the strength or income to purchase their own groceries. Volunteers packed over 100 bags to be sent to these clients, who span 19 counties in and around the Metro-Atlanta area.
To get involved with the New Lawyers Division, please contact NLD Chair Madeleine Simmons at msimmons@forthepeople.com.

Women's Trial Lawyer Caucus
The GTLA Women's Trial Lawyer Caucus is pleased to announce the launch of the first-of-its-kind Sisters-In-Law (SIL) Program! Given that only 37 percent of women ever report having had a formal mentor in their careers, our Women's Caucus is out to serve the unique needs of our members by fostering deeper relationships with your colleagues. Role Models inspire us and give us a vision for what is possible. That vision usually leads us to think bigger and fearlessly take on goals that we once thought were impossible. It always seems impossible until it's done! Successful women are fully aware of the importance of having someone who recognizes their potential, who cares about their career, and who guides them through the twists, turns and hazards that come with reaching new heights. With these goals in mind, SIL is designed to help us reach our full potential professionally and personally by pairing you with a female lawyer based on your personal needs, whether it is focusing on passing the bar, juggling career and motherhood, building your practice, perfecting your craft or even transitioning to your next phase of life.
Grassroots Report
The Macon Trial Lawyers Association hosted their most recent luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Downtown Grill. This month, they welcomed State Representative and Governor's Floor Leader Allen Peake who provided an update on Georgia's new medical cannabis law and gave a preview of the upcoming 2016 Legislative Session. Also joining Rep. Peake were State Representative Micah Gravley, former State Representative Billy Maddox, GTLA President Darren Penn, Macon TLA Chair Laura Hinson and many local trial lawyers from the Macon community.
LEAD Program
This weekend, the 2015-2016 GTLA LEAD Class will celebrate the kickoff of this year's LEAD Program in Athens, Georgia. Beginning Friday afternoon, the LEADers will have the opportunity to hear from fellow LEAD alumni, local judges, Dean Rutledge from the University of Georgia School of Law, and members of GTLA leadership, all of whom will share tips and best practices for elevating their legal careers to the next level. On Saturday, the LEAD Class will join GTLA Past Presidents and our friends at Harris Penn Lowry LLP and Forge Consulting for a game-day tailgate, followed by the UGA v.
