As president and CEO of Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), William Pate is in charge of maintaining tourism as one of the city's top economic drivers. The industry brought nearly 51 million visitors to metro Atlanta in 2015, generating $15 billion in visitor spending and sustaining approximately 250,000 jobs.

Kayak the Ocmulgee River
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is Macon's only canoe, kayak and inner tube rental service for the Ocmulgee River. Join us from 9 am to 12 pm to experience the river’s beauty and enjoy a fantastic view of Macon as you wind through town. Transportation provided from the Macon Marriott at 9 am ($40).

The best and brightest were spotlighted at the Southeast Festivals and Events Association’s Kaleidoscope Awards. The top festivals and events throughout the southeast were recognized for their outstanding contribution to the events industry. Kevin Udell, Director of Sales & Marketing and Maria Weiss, Sales Manager, Jekyll Island Authority/Convention & Visitors Bureau, are delighted to share that the Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival won gold for both Best Festival in the Southeast and Best Poster, beating out more than 115 overall entries from 20 organizations for the top prize! Deborah Bouchea, Cruise and Event Specialist, River Street Riverboat Company, is delighted to share news of its newest ship, the Georgia Queen. On February 24, Savannah Riverboat Cruises held a grand affair to officially christen the 1,000-passenger cruise ship and to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary sailing the Savannah River. The luxury vessel is the largest and grandest ship of its kind, which makes her a special addition to Georgia’s beautiful coastline and an important contributing factor in Georgia and Savannah’s tourism and economic development. Beach Nana Travels is "an open journal of our adventures – taking a full year off from jobs and responsibilities to enjoy a bit of travel, and take the time to consider what we might like to do with the next stretch of life. To choose our work or, perhaps, for it to choose us." Safe travels, Robin!
 
Dianne Lovett, National Sales Manager, Cobb Travel & Tourism, is delighted to share that the Atlanta Braves' new $672 million home in Cobb County finally has its ball field. Over the weekend, long-time head groundskeeper Ed Mangan installed about 109,000 square feet of grass from Bent Oak Sod Farm in Foley, AL, at the 41,500-seat SunTrust Park. The Braves will open the 2017 season on the road with games at New York, Pittsburgh and Miami, before their inaugural homestand at SunTrust Park beginning April 14. Single-game tickets go on sale March 10.
