Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau President/CEO Barry White, CDME joined the CVB as Director of Sales in 1991 and became President/CEO in 1994. Barry has led the organization through substantial growth, beginning with transitioning the organization from a public entity to a private non-profit corporation. Through his leadership, the city has enjoyed consistent year-over-year growth in annual gross hotel revenue and related taxes, even through the recession. Another major milestone for Barry and the CVB included successfully spearheading the effort for an expansion of the city’s convention center. In addition to numerous other leadership roles, he is the only CVB executive to chair GSAE. Read more about his career here.

Executive Director Al Garver, CAE and Chief Operating Officer Karl Kirsch, CAE are thrilled to announce the innovative "THEgame of Drones" activity at the Oracle Applications User Group Conference (OAUG) and the OAUG Membership Booth were the subject of the award nomination. THEgame of Drones is a one-of-a-kind tradeshow engagement journey designed and sold by Meeting Expectations. Conference participants "earned their wings" by visiting different key sponsor booths. After earning their wings, participants trained for actual drone races at the OAUG Membership booth; while they engaged in interactive flight training, the OAUG staff engaged with them to share the benefits of association membership. Check out The Drone Zone for more information.
