You have helpful programs designed for your members. You serve as an advocate for your industry on Capitol Hill. Your association may even set the standard for quality in your industry by certifying businesses and individuals in their trade.
None of those lofty accomplishments mean a thing if you’re not telling your members—and potential members—why it should matter to them. Connections editor Elsbeth Russell shares takeaways from the recent GSAE Annual Meeting and ASAE's MM&C Conference.

GSAE joins the association community as we mourn the passing of  R. William Taylor, CAE.  Bill first served ASAE as a committed volunteer leader in numerous capacities rising to Chairman of the Board in 1974–1975.  In 1976, Bill received ASAE’s highest award for volunteer service, The Key Award. Then in 1982, Bill joined the staff of ASAE and served as President & CEO until 1998 where he had a lasting and profound impact on the growth of ASAE and the development of the profession of association management.  Bill served as the Abit Massey Lecturer in 1987.  The obituary has been provided by the Taylor family.

Earning the CAE credential is the hallmark of a committed association professional.  It helps drive professional self-confidence, opens doors, creates connections, and offers widespread value and recognition for candidates.  Congratulations to GSAE's newest CAE!
