  • Up to 56 credit hours to qualify to sit for the CAE exam or to recertify
 

Huge thanks to our 2022 Annual Meeting host, Jekyll Island Authority, and their marketing department for creating such a welcoming logo. Maria Trammell and Kevin Udell cannot wait to welcome y’all June 1-3, 2022. The Pay the Pig recipient will be the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, of course. Room blocks are being set up at not 1, 2, or 3 properties, but nearly all available hotels. We’ll open those up in September so watch your email.

 

We’re delighted to announce Meg Callahan is joining GSAE’s staff as the Manager of Membership & Communications. Meg’s first day will be August 16. If you are attending the Atlanta CVB Pop-UP Community Event, you’ll be able to meet her in person!

GSAE is sad to share the Rev. Father Paul Massey, CAE, GSAE past president, 1988-1989, passed away August 2. Paul served as President of the Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia for more than 25 years and earned their prestigious Ben Franklin Award. He received GSAE’s highest honor, The Clifford M. Clarke Award, in 1994. Learn More.

Georgia Aquarium: The Research and Conservation team at Georgia Aquarium are ramping up their projects and trips through the summer and fall. One of our studies focuses on coastal shark species serving as indicators fro the overall coastal ecosystem health in Georgia. Learn More.

Jekyll Island Authority, host of the 2022 GSAE Annual Meeting, is pleased to announce the opening of two new properties in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced the opening of Thompson Savannah, the brand's first property in Georgia. Set along the banks of the Savannah River, Thompson Savannah, located at the junction of the city's Historic District and its newest neighborhood, Eastern Wharf, is a joint venture development by Regent Partners, Mariner Group and Cadre. Renée Areng, Executive Director for Explore Brookhaven, joins more than 60 other remarkable leaders from around the world who have received this award. Areng was one of six other award winners for 2021.

The GSAE Board of Directors is soliciting the names of association executive members, who have been a member for more than 1 year, interested in serving on the Nominating Committee. To be considered, please contact Wendy at wendy@gsae.org. The Nominating Committee will include up to five at large GSAE association executive members in good standing in addition to GSAE Chair Mary J. Wheatley, CAE, IOM, Past Chair Joel Peacock, and Chair Elect Ashley Goodin, CAE. Names of the full committee will be available by the end of August.
