GSAE's Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) offer one of the best resources for association executives and professionals. These self-directed groups of GSAE members focus on a particular area and delve into various topics within that area. In addition to learning from the "experts" in a particular area of interest, GSAE's SIGs offer members a place to discuss with peers issues of personal relevance. Learn more about our SIGs here

Any organization in Georgia that employs at least one GSAE member may apply. The applications are due May 1 and will be judged on the quality of the internship experience described in the application rather than on the qualifications of the student who will fill the internship. It is the responsibility of the organization to recruit a qualified student to fill the internship, but this may be done after the GSAE Foundation announces which applications will be funded. Watch this video and visit to learn more about the internship grant program. And, please consider making a donation to the GSAE Foundation.

The iconic, game-changing venue that forever altered Atlanta and the state of Georgia’s cultural, architectural and economic landscape – was imploded at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20. Taking a mere 12 seconds to flatten the building’s approximate 250,000 cubic yards of concrete, the implosion utilized more than 10,000 man-hours of preparation, 4,800 total pounds of strategically placed explosives, and approximately 6 miles of detonating cord and 1 mile of electrical wire connections.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority, the state agency that owns the convention center, the dome and the new stadium, envisions a new luxury hotel on about one acre of the site. The board that governs the Georgia World Congress Center voted in November to pursue a pre-development agreement with a Boston company for a hotel at the downtown convention center, an important step as the state agency crafts plans for the 1,010-room high-rise.
Past GSAE speakers, Aaron D. Wolowiec, MSA, CAE, CMP, CTA, CTF and Scott Oser have launched a new resource, "Results-driven Event Marketing for the Discerning Attendee." Writes Aaron, "In our opinion, results-driven event marketing occurs in three distinct phases: pre-planning, implementation and post-activity. When intentionally designed, developed and implemented, the right event marketing can cause both attendance and revenue to soar." A direct link to the blog post is available here.

Apparently, Aaron is the busiest learning professional we know. He and Tracy King, MA, CAE, another GSAE Annual Meeting speaker, also teamed up to produce a free Engaging Learners Guide. Learn more and download a copy of their new eBook "Engaging Learners: A Guide to Successfully Designing Engaging Learning," here. We hope this comprehensive, but approachable resource will help you and your speakers better engage learners in 2018.
