Forbes COVID-19 has caused serious disruption to manufacturers’ ability to produce products and fill orders on a timely basis, impeding performance of countless supply chains. Manufacturing facilities have closed or reduced capacity, airlines have suspended or reduced flights, ports have closed, containers have shipped less than full, and ocean vessels sit on “delayed status.” This has seriously impacted cross-border distribution of products, including chemicals, commodities, electronics, construction materials, computer hardware, phones, food products and textiles. Accordingly, purchasers of products made, distributed and delivered by those manufacturers and transportation firms are likely to be unable to satisfy or to be significantly delayed in fulfilling their contractual obligations to their customers.
