Engineering.comEveryone seems to be talking about digital these days, from Industry 4.0 to the Internet of Things (IoT) and how all of this is going to affect our collective future. Cloud computing, semi-autonomous AI and connected devices are already with us and this trend will only continue, but for some reason, manufacturers seem to be lagging. The term ‘digital manufacturing’ refers both to a suite of interconnected devices and systems – the technical backbone – as well as the organizational procedures that make use of these systems to improve performance and profitability.

AGMAGain a solid and fundamental understanding of gear geometry, types and arrangements and design principles. Starting with the basic definitions of gears, conjugate motion and the Laws of Gearing, learn the tools needed to understand the inter-relation and coordinated motion operating within gear pairs and multi-gear trains. Basic gear system design process and gear measurement and inspection techniques will also be explained. In addition, the fundamentals of understanding the step-wise process of working through the iterative design process required to generate a gear pair will be reviewed. Learn the steps and issues involved in design refinement and some manufacturing considerations. As explanation of basic gear measurement techniques, how measurement equipment and test machines implement these techniques, and how to interpret the results from these basic measurements will also be covered.

Automotive LogisticsBlockchain has built its reputation as a distributed ledger platform, which provides a framework for securely using and trading cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin. However, its potential extends far beyond financial services. One example is automotive manufacturing, where it could speed up and improve the accuracy of processes, as well as enable users on a macro and micro level to access and edit relevant information related to vehicles and their parts.
