GizMag A few weeks ago, startup carmaker Faraday Future (FF) broke ground on a $1 billion manufacturing facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be the first plant for the California-based, Chinese-backed company that started in 2014 with the goal of developing a range of connected electric vehicles. With robot greeters and a long-term goal to be powered completely by renewable energy, the plant is set to be as innovative as the cars that will come out of it.

MarketWatch German manufacturing orders rebounded sharply in March, helped by surging demand from outside the Eurozone, the economics ministry announced. Total orders for Germany's important manufacturing sector—adjusted for seasonal swings and calendar effects—jumped 1.9 percent in March from the month before, beating expectations. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a 0.6 percent gain.

That's the vision for the Lilium Jet, an aircraft currently being developed in Germany, under the auspices of the European Space Agency's business incubation center, that boasts fly-by-wire joystick controls, retractable landing gear, gull-wing doors, and a claimed top speed of 400 km/h (250 mph). The creators claim that this personal e-jet could be made available to the public as early as 2018.

The site of the new facility was previously home to Willys-Overland Motors, which developed the original Jeep, and is located less than three miles from FCA US LLC's Toledo Assembly Complex.
