U.S. manufacturing output recorded its largest increase in nine months in November as production expanded across the board, pointing to underlying strength in the economy. Factory production increased 1.1 percent last month after an upwardly revised 0.4 percent advance in October, the Federal Reserve said on Monday.

An auto parts manufacturer is proposing a huge improvement for its facility in Florence and the addition of 170 jobs. Eagle Manufacturing Co. LLC, part of Ontario, Canada-based Linamar Corp., proposed to invest more than $35 million in the project, according to a report released by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority. The manufacturer would either extend its lease or buy its facility in Florence.

New York manufacturers say business activity shrank for the first time in nearly two years, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Empire State Manufacturing Survey released Monday. The Empire State's business conditions index tumbled to -3.58 in December from 10.16 in November.

New analysis from Navigant Research has shown that global wind turbine manufacturing capacity has far surpassed global demand, providing flexibility, choice, and cost control.

"Oversupply is allowing wind turbine manufacturers to more easily adjust what components they produce in-house, what is outsourced, and when a blend of both is advantageous for cost, technological, or geographic reasons," says Jesse Broehl, senior research analyst with Navigant Research.
