ReutersNordic countries Sweden and Finland again topped an annual ranking of the world's best jurisdictions for miners to operate, beating out Canada for the second year in a row. Sweden, which placed second last year, moved to the top of the list, while last year's top jurisdiction, Finland, slipped to second place, according to a report released on Monday by the Fraser Institute.

IndustryWeekDespite its recent mineral export ban that has worried foreign investors, Russian firms plan to invest up to six billion dollars in Indonesia's mining sector this year, Jakarta said Tuesday. Projects include a refinery on Borneo to process bauxite, an aluminium ore, and a railway on the island to transport coal to a port, said Indonesian Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa.
