Gleason Corporation today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire IMS KOEPFER Cutting Tools GmbH of Eisenbach, Germany from IMS Gear GmbH and KOEPFER Verzahnungsmaschinen GmbH. The company which has approximately 70 employees will be renamed Gleason Cutting Tools GmbH and continue to operate at its current location in Eisenbach, Germany, with its existing management team.

Steel manufacturing giant ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumimoto Metal said they agreed to buy a U.S. steel plant owned by ThyssenKrupp for $1.55 billion. The agreement is for a 50-50 joint venture partnership between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel.

India’s manufacturing sector activity witnessed an expansion in November for the first time since July, driven by rising new domestic orders, an HSBC survey said on Monday. The HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the manufacturing industry climbed from 49.6 in October to 51.3 in November on the back of a rebound in new orders and output.
