Economic activity in the manufacturing sector contracted in December, and the overall economy grew for the 128th consecutive month, say the nation’s supply executives in the latest Manufacturing ISM® Report On Business®. The December PMI registered 47.2%, a decrease of 0.9 percentage points from the November reading of 48.1%. This is the PMI’s lowest reading since June 2009, when it registered 46.3%.
