It has been three years since Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard completed an around-the-world journey in Solar Impulse 2, the sun-powered plane that could stay aloft for days at a time. Now Borschberg has started a new company called H55, and created a new aircraft to flip that equation around. H55’s first plane has room for two and can stay aloft for just about 90 minutes.

CASE STUDY DOWNLOAD: Barkhausen Noise vs. Nital Etch
With Barkhausen noise analysis, you can detect near surface stress and micro structural defects due to improper heat treatment and grinding. Unlike traditional nital etch, Barkhausen noise analysis is non-destructive, objective, and repeatable.
  • No scrap or consumables
  • No chemical disposals
  • Safer laboratory and work space
  • Improved traceability and process optimization
In this case study, find out how one transmission manufacturer leverages Barkhausen noise analysis to significantly improve the safety and accuracy of their inspection and cut costs.

The transformation of the US manufacturing economy from 1947 to 2016 is characterized by major declines in employment in favor of major increases in production capability – a loss of 3 million jobs but a boost of $4 trillion in economic output. New research from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW) in partnership with JPMorgan Chase & Co. details how the industry migrated from a hotbed in the Northeast to hubs in the Midwest and Southeast in the early 2000s. The Way We Were: The Changing Geography of US Manufacturing from 1940 to 2016 reveals that Indiana and Wisconsin are the only states where manufacturing remains the largest source of employment today.

More than 200 years ago, German philosopher Immanuel Kant described virtual reality as a reality that exists in our minds and is distinct from the external physical world. Nowadays we use the term differently, but the concept of virtual reality still retains Kant’s idea of a world that isn’t tangible, but that our mind can clearly perceive.
