Blockchain is built to be secure. Modifying one block modifies them all, which makes tampering very evident. There are ways around this – Laura Jehl, partner at BakerHostetler, said over $1 billion in bitcoin was stolen in 2018. While the blockchain itself is highly secure, the “wallets” used to store the digital currency may not be. However, the speed of transfer and security mean that more and larger companies are trying to organize blockchain for industrial use.
The use of additive manufacturing processes is increasing within industrial applications, as they bring some significant customer benefits compared to conventional processes. Additive manufacturing is based upon the layered structure of a component. The production time therefore depends on the volume to be applied to the component.
Inside EVs
The first advantage that electric vehicle manufacturers have is the simple and yet powerful flexibility inherent in electric motors. A four-wheeled EV can have one, two, three or four motors. Multiple motors can work in tandem or power up each of the four wheels independently.
U.S. manufacturing output fell steeply in January as motor vehicle production posted its biggest fall since 2009, with declines in a broad range of goods likely to fuel fears of a sharp slowdown in factory activity. The Federal Reserve said on Friday manufacturing production slumped 0.9 percent last month, the deepest drop in eight months. Data for December was revised to show a smaller increase in output that month than initially reported.
