GNK Driveline, the automotive drivetrain portion of GKN plc, has agreed to merge with Dana Inc., creating a massive automotive and truck supplier that can provide drivetrain and suspension components to most vehicles.

January U.S. cutting tool consumption totaled $183.61 million, according to the US Cutting Tool Institute (USCTI) and AMT – the Association for Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the Cutting Tool Market Report collaboration was up 4.9% from December.

The Agenda 4 plus One program was launched by the firm in 2016 and has since expanded to feature 20 initiatives. The program is divided into four categories, and an additional one: customer focus, operational excellence, financial flexibility, leadership and talent management — and securing long-term competitiveness and value creation.
The pace of durable goods shipments from American factory floors exceeded inventory growth for a second month in February, indicating production will stay strong. The government’s durable goods report on Friday showed the inventory-to-sales ratio slipped to 1.64 months, the lowest in more than three years. Recent data from the Federal Reserve show output at the nation’s factories advanced 1.2 percent in February, the most in four months.

One of Europe’s largest 3D printing factories is set to open in the UK in September this year, thanks to a £27 million investment announced last week by German industrial group, Siemens. Siemens UK plans to set up the specialist facility in Worcester, already home to its specialist additive manufacturing unit, Materials Solutions, in which it acquired a majority stake back in August 2016. The new facility will be a focal point for collaboration between Materials Solutions and Siemens UK’s Digital Factory smart manufacturing division.
