McInnes Rolled Rings
The purpose of this seminar is to prepare participants to design and apply bevel gears systems from the initial concept through manufacturing and quality control and on to assembly, installation and maintenance. It is not a theoretical presentation of bevel gear theory rather it is a practical hands on guide to their design, manufacture, quality control, assembly, installation rating, lubrication and, most especially, application.

Wausau Daily Herald Americans have come a long way from the depths of the Great Recession. Our businesses have created 12.1 million jobs over the past 61 months — the longest sustained stretch of job creation in our nation's history — and a key driver of that economic recovery has been a sector that helped build this country's middle class: manufacturing. The grants will range from $413,000 to $500,000 and support more than 40 organizations in developing research plans for "high-priority technology challenges" over a two-year period. Thirteen of the awards will launch new research consortia.

SCOT FORGE China's HSBC Final manufacturing PMI fell to its lowest levels in last one year at 48.9 levels in April, well below the expectation of 49.4 and down from 49.2 levels in March; below 50.0 levels indicates slow down in industrial growth. China is the biggest consumer of metals. Industrial demand and investment activity growth will likely stay on a relatively subdued path which will further dampen the demand for metals.
The Economic Times The government today invited Korean firms to set up manufacturing and R&D base in India, a move that will give boost to the Centre's 'Make In India' campaign.

Knowledge @ Wharton There’s been a flurry of news reports suggesting that U.S. corporations are bringing overseas manufacturing back to the United States, notably from China. The reason for the reshoring: As labor costs rise in China and other emerging markets, the advantages of lower wages recede. But new research by Morris Cohen, a Wharton professor of operations and information management, and Hau L. Lee at Stanford, shows the reality is more complicated. When it comes to manufacturing components within the aerospace industry, 3D printing is gradually inching its way into the process. We have seen numerous applications for end-use 3D printed parts by space agencies such as NASA as well as aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus.
Area Development The company, which is a subsidiary of Winnebago Industries, Inc., invested approximately $5.4 million in April to purchase four facilities in Middlebury that cover 277,330 square feet on its 31 acre campus, which was previously leased. Forbes Not many years ago, the U.S. steel industry found itself losing ground. U.S. Steel Corp., the country’s largest producer, still had billions of dollars in revenue, but had posted large losses for three consecutive years. But then came the domestic shale gas boom, which has put the American steel industry back in the business of making pipes for drilling rigs and new pipelines.

The analysis predicted the country could eventually move 2.4 million barrels of crude oil abroad per day in that scenario.
ABL Advisor Various economic factors have contributed to a resurgence in U.S. manufacturing, including greater access to credit, rising labor costs overseas and productivity improvements in the US. The result is that manufacturing output per U.S. employee hour has more than doubled over the past two decades. The manufacturing sector now has a strong long-term outlook with a rapidly shrinking cost differential between overseas manufacturers such as China, a chief competitor.

Science Daily Wind turbines deliver environmentally friendly electricity. Yet the fiber-reinforced plastics often used in very large rotor blades are almost impossible to recycle. Not so with steel blades: since these are composed of steel, their recyclability exceeds 90 percent. Plus they cost significantly less than comparable plastic blades.
FastCompany A new study from consulting giant McKinsey says factories are the next fertile ground for the "Internet of things." The report, called Industry 4.0: How to Navigate a Changing Industrial Landscape, also says something intuitive: Over the next 10 years, factories and manufacturing facilities will worry less about buying new equipment and more about outfitting their spaces with an array of high-tech sensors and routers.
