Bloomberg A Chinese manufacturing gauge unexpectedly increased this month, suggesting export demand is helping the economy withstand a property slump. The preliminary Purchasing Managers’ Index from HSBC Holdings Plc and Markit Economics was at 50.5, matching the highest estimates in a Bloomberg News survey of analysts and up from August’s final reading of 50.2.

Caixin Online State-backed aircraft manufacturer Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC) will set up an independent company to focus on designing and making airplane engines, sources with knowledge of the matter say. The company will consist of the AVIC's engine design and manufacturing companies, one of the sources said. Its name will be Aero Engine Corp. of China, and it will be formed by the end of the year.

Manufacturing.net With sales of the Ram 1500 on a 52-month sales streak, Chrysler Group's Warren Truck Assembly Plant is increasing production. The plant that built back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year winners in 2013 and 2014 will be building an average of an additional 100 vehicles a day or 38,565 more trucks a year to keep up with demand.

Manufacturing.net Boeing is bringing hundreds of new jobs to South Carolina. The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that the aerospace company has leased a 100,000-square-foot building in North Charleston for a new research center that will employ as many as 400.
 
Aerospace Manufacturing and Design The first A320neo to fly has successfully completed its first flight which lasted around two and a half hours. The aircraft – carrying the registration F-WNEO – was flown by Airbus Experimental Test Pilots Philippe Pellerin and Etienne Miche de Malleray. Accompanying them in the cockpit was Test-Flight Engineer Jean-Paul Lambert. Monitoring the progress of the flight profile were the Flight-Test Engineers Manfred Birnfeld and Sandra Bour-Schaeffer.
