Detroit Free Press The $148-million high-tech manufacturing research institute announced Saturday by the White House is expected to bring 10,000 jobs to the Midwest and is to open this spring in Canton, the University of Michigan announced Sunday. The American Lightweight Materials Manufacturing Innovation Institute will be led by U-M, Ohio-based manufacturing technology nonprofit EWI and Ohio State University.
 
The Economic Times Honda Cars India inaugurated its second manufacturing facility at Alwar in Rajasthan, a move aimed at doubling the company's production capacity in the country. The new manufacturing facility, which employs about 3,200 people, will have a starting production capacity of 60,000 units in a single shift, which would be enhanced as per the market demand.
 
MarketWatch China's factory activity lost ground in February, as a key gauge of manufacturing slipped to a seven-month low, signaling further economic weakness and rattling markets. The preliminary HSBC China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, a gauge of nationwide manufacturing activity, fell to 48.3 in February from 49.5 in January, HSBC Holdings PLC said.

Aviation Today The first humanoid robot built for the Futurassy project has arrived at the Airbus Puerto Real plant in Cadiz, Spain. Japanese manufacturer Kawada builds the two-arm humanoid robots, which the French airframe manufacturer is hoping will eventually be used to perform repetitive tasks, allowing human workers to focus on higher value tasks.
