In this webinar, we’ll cover a few case studies on how machine shops and high-mix-low-volume manufacturers started their Industry 4.0 journey, as well as potential pitfalls to avoid and best practices for success.
Want to learn more about 3D metal printing? Join us as we walk on the RAPID show floor and talk with those in the industry. We had great success doing this in 2019 and are excited to do it again. AGMA is actively engaging with exhibitors to have 12-15 stops on our tour where you will learn about many different types of printers and materials currently in use in metal 3D printing. Exhibitors will speak directly to the gear industry audience with targeted information. SME is providing AGMA attendees with discounts on other parts of the show. Attendees will also get lunch during a post-tour debrief. There is a very limited number of slots available!
This course is an introduction to the methodology of analytical gear inspection and the evaluation and interpretation of the resulting data. The application of this information to identify and correct manufacturing errors will begin to be explored. Additionally, it reviews chart interpretation and applies inspection data to understand the causes and cures of manufacturing errors. Many chart examples are used to understand cause and effect.

Managing risk is crucial for operations and maintenance teams to optimize their fleet performance. Gearbox failure is one risk that will always be with the wind industry and fortunately an area where predictive maintenance has improved reliability. That said, there are certainly cases where operators must react quite quickly to prevent catastrophic damage.

In most process industries, many end users might be surprised to discover the digital capabilities of many process instruments installed during the last decade. The primary reason for this secret is – despite microprocessor-based measuring devices in flow, level, pressure, temperature, and other instruments since the 1980s – that these digital interfaces are largely ignored, instead solely utilizing a 4-20 mA analog output of the primary process variable.

Technology has the power to connect our society and to make us more reachable. We can contact friends across the globe, conduct business in virtual meetings, and meet new people online. The metaverse brings all these concepts together into one platform: a public virtual world. Using a computer, phone, tablet, or VR headset, the potential exists for an individual to one day transport themselves into a virtual world to met with friends, buy digital items, play games, or even go to work and hold meetings.

An economic impact study of cooperative research agreements and licenses between Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and private industry published Thursday shows $3.5 billion in sales of new products and services. The new study, a first for the federal lab, quantified the after-effects of 200 cooperative research and development agreements and 208 license agreements signed between 2000 and 2020. Such agreements are important, enabling the lab to collaborate with private companies on new science and advancement of technologies.

The entire airline industry needs to wean itself off jet fuel over the next few decades – but it’s still buying enormously expensive jet aircraft that are expected to keep bringing home the bacon for more than 20 years. Australian company Aviation H2 hopes to clean up commercial flight by converting existing aircraft to burn green ammonia instead of standard Jet-A jet fuel. To do so, it’s planning to have a nine-seat passenger jet in the air and flying on ammonia by the middle of next year.
