Gain a solid and fundamental understanding of gear geometry, types and arrangements, and design principles. Starting with the basic definitions of gears, conjugate motion, and the Laws of Gearing, learn the tools needed to understand the inter-relation and coordinated motion operating within gear pairs and multi-gear trains. Basic gear system design process and gear measurement and inspection techniques will also be explained. In addition, the fundamentals of understanding the step-wise process of working through the iterative design process required to generate a gear pair will be reviewed. Learn the steps and issues involved in design refinement and some manufacturing considerations. An explanation of basic gear measurement techniques, how measurement equipment and test machines implement these techniques, and how to interpret the results from these basic measurements will also be covered.

Locomotives remain a fast and efficient way to move cargo overland. The low rolling resistance of steel-on-steel will always beat rubber on road, the ability to pull long chains of freight cars, linked closely together, gives trains a significant aerodynamic advantage as well. Not to mention the fact that the entire rail system is built around energy conservation, avoiding gradients where possible and conserving momentum by using the fewest possible stops.

Manufacturing Global
In an announcement made by Honeywell, the company has released its latest solution for intelligent automated handling. The new solution is designed to help warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing sites to receive, process and fill orders faster and more accurately, as well as reduce the storage footprint.

Manufacturing Global
Rocketing supply chain risks over the last two years have driven many companies to look more closely at how they can optimize working capital, both for themselves and for their suppliers. The challenges have been significant; alongside liquidity constraints and changes to customer behavior, companies have had to address the difficulties brought by significant supply chain disruption, from factory shutdowns to the semiconductor shortage. At the same time, the trade finance gap has risen to an estimated $3.4 trillion — equating to a considerable funding shortfall for SME suppliers.

Today’s Motor Vehicles
Energy, power generation, and oil & gas industries have an increasing interest in AM as they realize the potential benefits for large-scale metal part fabrication: drastically shorter lead times, reduced costs, digital inventory, design flexibility and high quality compared to castings.
Automotive World
Battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) have seen rapid growth in recent years as new models began flooding the market and economics of scale allowed retail prices to fall. Consumer demand was initially led by early adopters and supported by incentives that brought the total cost of ownership more in line with conventional gasoline or diesel vehicles.
