Government Affairs

Gwinnett: The GAHBA Government Affairs Committee has been working with Gwinnett County to change their code to allow for painted brick. Because of these efforts, on July 24 the Gwinnett County Commission passed a resolution to change their code to allow for painted brick. This is a great win for the home building industry and demonstrates how GAHBA efforts are making a difference for members!

Brookhaven: Brookhaven's proposed Buford Highway Overlay zoning district, which includes a “workforce housing” requirement, is seeking to get approval from the city. Incentives to developers providing workforce housing are also expected to be part of the overlay recommendations. Brookhaven is defining workforce housing as “for-sale housing that is affordable to those households earning no more than 80 percent of the median household income for the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area, as determined by the current fiscal year HUD income limit table.” That median income is about $68,000.

McMichael & Gray, P.C.
Homeaid Atlanta

On August 2, four local service provider groups joined forces for a unique HomeAid Care Day – a testament to the strength of nonprofit organizations working together to overcome homelessness in Atlanta! This collaboration brought together HomeAid Atlanta’s volunteer resources for the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity build of a home for Chris 180, managed in part by Quest Community Development. The home, located in the English Avenue neighborhood, will be operated by Chris 180 to provide transitional housing and services for young adults who age out of the foster care system. The efforts of hard-working volunteers from McMichael & Gray PC and Quantum National Bank generated a savings of $5,000 on the project!

Help HomeAid Atlanta win a $5,000 grant by voting for their video entry in the 2018 pledgeTV Film Festival!

It just takes a couple clicks to vote – HomeAid's video, created by Atlanta's Best New Homes TV, is listed in the "Professional" category. Be sure to submit your votes by August 22. Thank you for all that you do to help HomeAid Build New Lives!
