Last week the Metro South Chapter hosted a lunch meeting at the Crystal Lake Golf & County Club in Hampton. Attendees heard a presentation by Eugene James of Metrostudy, as well as Renae Crutches and Vivian Thomas, both candidates for the Henry County Commission. Thanks to all who attended! The Metro South Chapter's next event will be a networking social on September 4 at Jailhouse Brewing Company in Hampton.

Please click here to log-in and verify your company contact information, and make corrections if needed. In addition to updating your contact information, you will also be able to update your list of employees and your business category. While editing your online listing, you also have the option to add a more detailed description for your business, which will allow consumers and other members to find you more easily on the website.

All changes must be made online at by September 10.

Show how your company demonstrates excellence in work-place safety and win $1,000!

Builders Insurance Group and the Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG) would like to recognize a top-tier organization that has demonstrated leadership in the area of work-place safety. Every year, accidents on the job cause devastating injuries, even deaths. The monetary and emotional costs are great. However, most accidents are preventable, and there are companies that take active measures to embrace a culture of safety. Are you one of these leaders? If so, the goal of this award is to highlight your company and your outstanding achievements in work-place safety.

The “Safety Leadership Award” is open to all current GAHBA members. Forsyth: The County Commission is holding a working session today to discuss a draft version of the county’s new Residential Design Standards. The GAHBA encourages all concerned members to attend the meeting to make our presence known. The meeting will be held:

• August 7, 2:00 p.m., Forsyth County Administration Building (110 E Main Street, Cumming)


Atlanta: Effective July 1, the City of Atlanta has implemented an ordinance requiring that all new parking spaces associated with new construction for residential occupancies must include the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations. It does not require the physical charging station to be installed. The electrical panel load capacity and raceway/conduit must be sized for the load capacity of the charging station. Woodstock: Woodstock city staff can now approve after-hours construction. The City Council has amended city codes to let contractors wishing to work outside normally permitted construction hours to seek an administrative exemption to time restrictions. If you can make a case for hardship and that your work won’t affect community health, safety or welfare, you can apply for an exemption to the time restrictions from the chief of police and a building official, or their designees.

The association is excited to announce the revision of the GAHBA contracts! Frank Brown of Weissman Attorneys at Law has rewritten the contracts, and the 2018 version is now available for purchase through the online bookstore. When you purchase the 2018 GAHBA contracts online, you will receive a link to download the contract files.

The contracts are $12 for GAHBA members and $22 for non-members.

We are asking that you stop using any old versions of the contracts and only use the 2018 contracts.
