Last Friday, the Greater Atlanta HBA hosted a Builder Speed Dating event at the Dunwoody office. Builder Speed Dating allows builders to meet with a variety of vendors in one morning to learn more about their products and services.

  The HBA hosted an informative New Member Orientation last week for companies that have recently joined the association. These meetings, which are held quarterly, allow new members to learn more about the HBA, meet the staff, and find out how to get the most out of their membership. The next New Member Orientation will be held on September 25.

  The HBA offered a class on OSHA jobsite safety and compliance last week led by Shane Henderson and Mitchell Smith of Pike Consulting Group. The class was held on location at a jobsite in the Ashton Woods Homes Aria neighborhood. The Sandy Springs Fire Department not only attended the class, they also presented an injury rescue demonstration for the students.

Residential Basic: 6 credit hours (3 per year, July-June)

Residential Light Commercial: 12 credit hours (6 per year, July-June)

The Greater Atlanta HBA is excited to announce the revision of the HBA contracts! Frank Brown of Weissman Attorneys at Law has rewritten the contracts, and the 2018 version is now available for purchase through the online bookstore. When you purchase the 2018 HBA contracts online, you will receive a link to download the contract files.

The contracts are $12 for HBA members and $22 for non-members.

We are asking that you stop using any old versions of the contracts and only use the 2018 contracts.

HomeAid Atlanta’s renovation project at The Drake Village in Roswell received a gift of high-quality furniture and accessories valued at more than $13,000, courtesy of The Interior Partners. HomeAid is in the final phases of the project at The Drake Village with volunteer Builder Captain Dan O’Dwyer of O’Dwyer Properties.

HomeAid Atlanta's renovation project at Making A Way Housing with volunteer Builder Captain Steve Brock of Brock Built is in the final stages. When complete, the renovated apartment building will add 16 beds to serve homeless adults who face complex challenges associated with chronic homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, and HIV and AIDS.

Last week, HomeAid Atlanta staff members and HBA Vice President Vince Longo of Vincent Longo Custom Builders attended a ribbon cutting and open house at SafeHouse Outreach. In 2017, HomeAid and volunteer Builder Captain Vince Longo helped to complete a total renovation of the restroom facilities at SafeHouse Outreach’s downtown service center and headquarters. SafeHouse has since completed additional renovations on other areas of the building.
