Government Affairs

DeKalb County: DeKalb County has started to enforce a new code standard for garage doors:

1. “Street-facing garage facades shall not comprise more than forty-five (45) percent of the total width of the conventional single-family detached residence’s front façade.”

2. “Street-facing garages shall be at least two (2) feet behind the primary front façade plane of a conventional single-family detached residence.”

The HBA is coordinating a meeting with county to staff to discuss this matter. If you are affected by this, please contact Stephen Davis.

Gwinnett County: The Gwinnett County Planning Department is now processing requests for painted brick as a modification process. To apply, complete the modification form and submit to the Development Plan Review Section of the Planning Department. The application fee is $100. This is temporary, and the HBA is working with the county to find a good permanent solution.

Click here to access the application for modification.

Remember, if you see something, say something. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Stephen Davis at (678) 775-1428 or sdavis@atlantahba.com

Above left, McMichael & Gray supported the 2018 Essentials Drive in many ways, including donating funds and baby supplies, helping with sorting and delivery, and more.

Above right, Meridian Brick & Masonry Supply generously provided warehouse space for the Essentials Drive, collected baby supplies, and picked up donations from drop-off sites at several other Atlanta area businesses.

At left, HomeAid board member Brad Shilling, center, of O'Kelley & Sorohan Attorneys at Law delivers donations to Sheltering Arms with the help of UPS, which has helped with Essentials Drive deliveries for 12 years in a row.

HomeAid Atlanta would like to thank the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association for the overwhelming support of the 2018 Essentials Drive. Approximately 200,000 items, valued at almost $35,000, were donated to 25 Metro Atlanta non-profits serving homeless children and families, making this the most successful Essentials Drive to date!
