Government Affairs

Last week, the Greater Atlanta HBA met with elected officials and city staff from the City of Sandy Springs to discuss the Six-Month Development Code Update and raise your concerns. We continue to encourage you to send your recommended changes/concerns to our Government Affairs Director Stephen Davis or to the commission directly at

Earlier this month, the city of Milton issued a new tree ordinance that is having major impacts on development in the community. The HBA is working with stakeholders, has submitted concerns to the city, and will be coordinating meetings with elected officials and city staff in the near future to express those concerns.

We are still looking for a Co-Chair for the Forsyth County Government Affairs Sub-Committee. If you are interested, please contact Stephen Davis.

Last week the HBA's Atlanta 55+ Housing Council held its first program meeting of 2018, featuring guest speaker Allen Harris of Bailey Harris Construction. Harris presented a case history of one of East Alabama's most successful 55+ neighborhoods, the Springs of Mill Lakes. The 55+ Council thanks everyone who attended the meeting and is looking forward to more great programs in 2018.

HomeAid Atlanta’s 17th Annual Essentials Drive will be held from April 30 to May 8 in honor of Mother's Day. The Essentials Drive is an Atlanta-wide drive to collect "essentials," such as diapers, baby wipes, baby food, and formula for homeless infants and toddlers. Your office, community organization, or social group can help homeless babies by holding an Essentials Drive or donating to the drive!
