Dr. Roger Tutterow wil give an overall economic snapshot, as well as a presentation on the current Consumer Confidence Survey results and how they may impact the Georgia housing market in 2018. One of Georgia's most prominent and popular economists, Tutterow serves as a Professor of Economics, Finance, and Quantitative Analysis at Kennesaw State University. Several members of the Greater Atlanta HBA, as well as our local Professional Women in Building Council and Kennesaw State University Student Chapter, received awards last week during the International Builders Show in Orlando. Congratulations to all the honorees for their hard work and accomplishments!

Jim Chapman Communities, led by 2018 HBA President Jim Chapman, was named Builder of the Year at the 2018 Best of 55+ Housing Awards program. Also in the Best of 55+ Housing Awards, Jim Chapman Homes' Sweet Briar Farms won the Gold Award for "55+ For-Sale Community up to 200 Homes," Sweet Briar Farms (Brighton Model) won the Silver Award for "55+ Interior Merchandising of a Model 2,501-3,000 square feet," and The Overlook at Old Atlanta (Ansley Model) won the Silver Award for "55+ Detached Home 2,501-3,000 square feet." Christine Fortenberry of FCSatlanta was named CAPS Educator of the Year as part of the NAHB's annual education awards, which honor individuals who have excelled in teaching NAHB education courses. Read more here...

The NAHB Professional Women in Building (PWB) awarded 2nd place to the Greater Atlanta HBA's local PWB chapter in the "Innovative Programs" and "Legislative & Political Action" categories. 

Betsy Sheppard of Gilbert & Sheppard Group was selected as one of four finalists for the NAHB PWB Woman of the Year Award. This award recognizes council members who demonstrate excellence and commitment to the local, state, and national councils.
  The NAHB Student Chapter at Kennesaw State University received 3rd place for the Outstanding Student Chapter Award. In addition, Tyler Dees received the Outstanding Student Award for KSU.

A smiling crew from Catamount Constructors Inc. recently completed the demolition phase of HomeAid's project at The Drake Village. Catamount generously donated 100% of the demo services. The Drake Village is an expansion of The Drake House, and this major renovation project, led by volunteer Builder Captain Dan O'Dwyer of O'Dwyer Homes, will more than double The Drake House's capacity to serve women and children experiencing homelessness in North Fulton.


In late December 2017, HomeAid and Vince Longo of Longo Homes partnered together to help renovate a bathroom at SafeHouse Outreach's downtown Atlanta service center and headquarters. Vince Longo generously donated his time and expertise for the much-needed bathroom renovation. Learn more...
