Help Homeless Moms and Babies through HomeAid’s 2011 Essentials for Young Lives® Drive

Help Homeless Moms and Babies through HomeAid’s 2011 Essentials for Young Lives® Drive

April 25 – May 2

In honor of Mother’s Day, we invite you to help homeless moms and their babies through HomeAid Atlanta’s 2011 Essentials for Young Lives® Drive, April 25 – May 2. As you may know, the drive is a community-wide effort to collect "essentials" such as diapers and baby food for homeless mothers and their infants in the metro Atlanta area.  Sadly, women and children are among the fastest growing segments of the homeless population, so the need for these essential items is great.

You can help! Simply collect any of the items listed below from within your family, friends, neighbors or co-workers and bring your donations to a drop-off location near you between April 25 and May 2 (drop-off dates/times vary by location). We ask that all items be new and in their original packaging.  Remember, your donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Essential items needed include:

If you can’t make it to a drop-off location, donations are also conveniently accepted online via the baby registries at Babies R Us and Target. Just enter "HomeAid" for the registrant’s first name and "Atlanta" for the last name, and make your selections from the items listed. Items purchased online can be shipped directly to HomeAid Atlanta.

Your company or organization can also get involved by conducting a collection in support of the Essentials for Young Lives Drive. HomeAid Atlanta makes hosting a collection easy by providing a how-to kit with all the information you need. If you are interested in hosting a collection at your company or organization, click here.

Everything collected through the drive will be distributed to HomeAid’s shelter partners that serve homeless families and young children.  These organizations operate facilities that have been built in partnership with HomeAid Atlanta and include Decatur Cooperative Ministry, Genesis – A New Life, HomeStretch, My House, Phoenix Pass, Tapestry Youth Ministries and The Drake House. The deliveries will take place just before Mother’s Day, helping many homeless mothers provide essentials for their babies.
