Builder Licensing Prep Course: Commercial Supplement with Daniel Jewitt
Do you need to review the commercial books for the licensing exam?
Georgia state law requires home
builders to be licensed and regulated by the State Licensing Board for
Residential and General Contractors effective July 1, 2008. Eligibility
for licensure will be determined by the board for all candidates who have successfully
applied for and passed their licensing examination.
The Greater Atlanta HBA is offering a three-day class to prepare builders for the Residential-Light Commercial Contractor exam. (The 90-question exam is a supplement to the Residential Basic Exam. This should be taken ALONG WITH the Residential Basic Exam prep classes for a comprehensive overview of all the material. Those residential topics areNOTcovered in this class. The HBA offers classes to prepare for those parts of the exam, also.)
This workshop covers:
- Codes (International Building Code and Accessibility Code)
- Specifics (Gypsum, Metal Deck, Metal Girder)
The exam is an open book test and this section uses the following reference materials:
- International Building Code, 2006 with ’07 amendments
- Georgia Accessibility Code, 1997
- Handling and Erection of Steel Joists and Joist Girders, 2006
- SDI Manual of Construction with Steel Deck, 2006
- Gypsum Construction Handbook, 1987
Each participantmusthave the reference materials for the course. (Books may be purchased before the date of class in the HBA Bookstore.) The other exam sections use different reference materials.
