HomeAid Atlanta Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony at Rainbow Village

HomeAid Atlanta and Rainbow Village supporters were in high spirits at the groundbreaking event on December 5. HomeAid board president, Sandy Andrew, led the ceremony. Speakers included volunteer builder captain, Mike Smith of Harcrest Homes, Rainbow Village board member and City of Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris, Maureen, a graduate of Rainbow Village, and Dr. John Smith of Rainbow Village blessed the project. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this momentous occasion.

HomeAid is proud and excited to begin construction on the new six-unit apartment building to house families experiencing transitional homelessness at Rainbow Village. The project cost estimate is $475,000. Through support from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Associations members and other companies in the community, HomeAid aims to contribute at least $200,000 in donations of in-kind materials and labor in order to help Rainbow Village put their savings back into their direct client service programs. The building will provide 36 beds and is an important part of Rainbow Village's "village."

Because of support from sponsors and donors, HomeAid has the opportunity to complete this project, which will serve countless families in need in the years to come, ultimately building a stronger and more stable community. HomeAid sends an enormous thank you to builder captain, Mike Smith and all the companies that have already made commitments to support this project: Advantage Security; Advanced Iron Works, Inc.; Atlanta Glass & Mirror; Atlanta Roofing Supply; Argos; Boral Building Supply; Builders Club Rewards; Delta Faucet; Founders Kitchen & Bath; GE Appliances; Harcrest Homes; IES Residential; JamesHardie; McCart Plumbing; O’Dwyer Homes; Parksite; PlyGem Windows; ProBuild (top contributor); The Providence Group; Pulley & Associates, Inc.; Reliance Heating & Air Co.; Robert Bowden, Inc.; Ryland Homes; Sherwin-Williams; Schlage; White Rock Drywall; and Woodman Insulation.
