Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Are you prepared to appeal your property taxes?

Some builders and developers are all faced with land and/or homes that they will be taxed on this year. Many cities and counties have rules that allow builders to exempt some charges or even appeal some fees. Join us for this short lunch and learn to prepare yourself if and when you need to appeal your property taxes.

Participants of this session will learn:
•    What the deadlines are that you need to know
•    What rules no one will tell you (but you need to know)
•    How to prepare an appeal that will work
•    What to do if your appeal is denied

Steve Goodsell will facilitate this session. Steve has spent the first 25 years of his career in residential land development. After the market crashed, he built on years of experience appealing his own taxes by studying the tax code and then attending the Georgia Department of Revenue class given for certification of county tax assessors. Over the last three years, Goodsell has managed the appeals process on over 22,000 properties for banks, builders and investors in over 90 Georgia counties lowering valuations by a combined total of over $200,000,000!
