High Performance Homes 101 and the Basics of Certified Green Building Lunch & Learn

February 8, noon -2 p.m.

Have you ever wondered exactly what "Green Building" is?

Being in the building industry these days you may hear about "Green" all of the time.  EarthCraft, Leed, Energy Star, NAHB Green Building Designation Program, and International Energy Conservation Code are all part of green.  It all can be very confusing!

Join us for a lunch & learn to find out:
  •  Is green building a fad, trend or requirement?
  • Should I become a green builder?
  • What are the seven disciplines of green building?
  •  How much more does a green home cost?
  • Will I make my money back?
  • What are the benefits to the builder and the homeowner?
  • How do I market green?
Lawson Calhoun will facilitate this session.  Lawson is a custom builder with 30 years of experience in building and marketing homes as well as a Green Building Consultant.  He started his industry career in 1969 as a Realtor and transitioned into home building in 1981.  Lawson has long been an advocate of green building and currently owns a green consulting company and continues to build custom homes.  He also has won eight Gold Obies and is an ICC certified Residential Building Inspector.  Lawson currently serves as Chairman on the Greater Atlanta HBA Green Building Council.
