DCA Issues a Waiver to Delay Testing Provisions and to Allow Visual Inspections
The Home Builders Association of Georgia has worked with the Office of Construction Codes and Industrialized Buildings to secure a delay for up to six months in the new blower door testing requirements of the new Energy Code supplements. The extension allows local builders, code enforcement officials, HVAC and Insulation installers and energy testing companies time to prepare for the new standards and testing. During that time only a visual inspection is required.

HBAG will remain in contact with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs on other updates or specific requirements, and will communicate with our many members across the state to help them better prepare.

Click HERE to review the memo from the director, Ted Miltiades, which explains the delay and provides the contact information for Georgia's Department of Community Affairs Office of Construction Codes & Industrialized Buildings. Click HERE to e-mail the office directly with any questions or if you need further assistance regarding this matter.

Also, the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association is teaching classes on the new Georgia Energy Code. Click HERE to register for our next class on January 27 or the class on February 17.
