Government Affairs Update
HB 302 Call to Action: The Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG) is urging members to support House Bill 302. HBAG has partnered with the Georgia Association of Realtors and other industry stakeholders to stand up for private property rights and the ability of Georgians to design their homes to their own tastes. HB 302 has been sponsored by Rep. Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain) in the Georgia House of Representatives to do just that. The GAHBA strongly encourages all members to contact your state legislators and let them know you support HB 302.

Forsyth County: Forsyth County’s Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and vote tonight on their latest proposal for residential design standards. The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth County Administration Building (110 East Main Street in Cumming). The GAHBA is leading a coalition to oppose the design standards and will be speaking during the hearing. All members who live or work in Forsyth County are encouraged to attend and help show the County government that the building industry is opposed to this type of government overreach. Additionally, members are encouraged to contact the Planning Commission and County Commission and let them know you oppose residential design standards.
