Groundbreaking at The Drake House

On Thursday, November 13, 2014, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at The Drake House in Roswell to kickoff construction on the 1,000 square foot addition and renovation to the Drake Center. Builder Captain Vince Longo of Vincent Longo Custom Builders was on hand, as well as members of local and state government, project donors, and friends of HomeAid Atlanta and The Drake House.

The expansion of the Drake Center will add a much-needed Teen Center as well as provide a complete office and classroom space overhaul, making the facility ADA compliant. The project will also allow for better traffic flow in the building and a larger food pantry.

The Drake House offers short-term transitional housing to homeless single mothers with young children and provides services to enable families to become self-sufficient. HomeAid partnered with O'Dwyer Homes in 2006 for The Drake House renovation project that provided 44 shelter beds in a 16-unit apartment building. HomeAid's relationship with The Drake House has grown over the years through projects such as HomeAid Care Days and the Essentials for Young Lives Drive.

We are excited about the kickoff of The Drake House renovation. Thank you to Vincent Longo, our generous project donors, and everyone involved!
