IMPORTANT NOTICE: Meeting to Discuss Proposed Changes to Atlanta Tree Ordinance

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

City of Atlanta Builders: The City of Atlanta is considering changes to the Atlanta Tree Ordinance (see attached proposed ordinance and table showing the proposed changes). The proposed ordinance would make numerous changes to how trees are defined and can be handled in home building. These proposed changes will impact the cost of building in the City. The Greater Atlanta HBA has been working with the City on the ordinance and we need your input in the ordinance.

At our request, the Office of Buildings has agreed to host a meeting with builders to explain the proposed changes and to get input from the industry. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Atlanta City Hall (55 Trinity Ave SW, Atlanta, GA) in the ATL Stat Room in the basement of City Hall. I’m sorry for the short notice, but it was the only time that we could facilitate a meeting before the proposed ordinance begins the process through the City Council.

Please let me know if you will be attending, so we can make sure that we have enough room to accommodate everyone. Please feel free to invite anyone that you feel would benefit by attending (other builders, landscape professional, etc.) Also, review the Update Table of Ordinance Changes and 14-O-1474 Tree Ordinance and please come prepared to discuss. Feel free to call me with any questions or thoughts.

David Ellis
