The CSA CGA 12.4-M84 (R2018) Standard – Dispensing Devices for Propane Fuel for Highway Vehicles was recently reaffirmed by the CSA. This Standard applies to the mechanical and electrical features of newly manufactured dispensing devices for propane liquid for use as fuel in internal combustion engines where such devices are intended primarily to dispense the liquid directly into the fuel storage tank of the vehicle. A copy of this Standard can be purchased on the CSA Website.

All capped participants (mandatory and voluntary) who were registered in the cap and trade program as of July 3, 2018, must submit a mid-year 2018 report no later than October 1, 2018. The period the report must cover is from January 1 to July 3, 2018.

Free Access to CSA Standards

The Canadian Standards Association’s (CSA) Technical Committee on Cylinders, Spheres, and Tubes for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods has published new editions of standards CSA B339, CSA B340, CSA B341 and CSA B342. In accordance with Section 1.3.2 of the TDG Regulations, these newly published standards come into force on December 31, 2018, however, members may begin transitioning to these new standards at any time before this date. 

The CPA holds a number of Equivalency Certificates on behalf of its members and are available on the CPA websiteThe terms and conditions of each Equivalency Certificate must be adhered to at all times. 

Ongoing Consultation & Updates

On September 11, 2018, the Government of Ontario posted Bill 4, which repeals the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016 and addresses various matters related to the wind down of the Cap and Trade Program, on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) for a 30-day comment period.

Congratulations to Russel Cardott from the Parkland Fuel Corporation for stepping up and assuming the role of Chair for the CPA’s Regulatory Affairs Committee.

 

Thank you to outgoing Chair Michel Gaulin from Maxquip, who ended his Regulatory Affairs chairmanship on September 20. The CPA thanks him for his extraordinary work and leadership for the last three years. We look forward to his continued involvement in the committee.
