BC: Carriers have less than 6 months to comply with province’s new electronic logging device requirements
British Columbia recently announced new regulations requiring the use of electronic logging devices. The government stated that in an effort to make transportation by road safer, it is aligning with federal requirements and using the approved platforms on the Transport Canada website.
The province has provided a short compliance timeframe with carriers having less than six months to update their trucks to meet the deadline: approved devices must be in use starting August 1, 2023. This will be a difficult task for some platform providers who may have to install and program the devices in numerous vehicles, in addition to training users.
