QC: Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting

Fuel distributors who have distributed more than 200 litres of fuel between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017 are required to produce a report on their GHG emissions no later than June 1, 2018, as set out in section 6.1, paragraph 3 of the Regulation respecting mandatory reporting of certain emissions of contaminants into the atmosphere.

For the purposes of the above regulation, the first to perform one of the following activities for fuels in Québec, is subject to the reporting requirement:

  • The sale or trade, by a person or municipality, of fuels that are refined, manufactured, mixed, prepared or distilled in Québec by that person or municipality.
  • The sale or trade in Québec of fuels from outside Québec.
  • The importing of fuels into Québec.
  • The distribution of natural gas in Québec.
