News & Updates
On November 16, The Hill Times published a letter to the editor written by the Canadian Propane Association, "Propane industry says it's committed to sustainable energy." The letter encourages all parties to appreciate already well-established energy solutions, and promotes the importance of considering the energy sector's economic contributions when developing policies related to the environment.

The Hill Times is a weekly publication that provides exclusive coverage of federal government people, politics and process. It’s Ottawa’s must-read publication about Parliament and government policy that is widely read across Canada. The letter is available on The Hill Times website (subscription required).

On November 4, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and 30 members of Cabinet were officially sworn to office. Significant appointments for the CPA include the Hon. James Carr, Minister of Natural Resources from Manitoba, the Hon. Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change from Ontario, the Hon. Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities from Alberta, and the Hon. Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport from Quebec. A full list of Cabinet member biographies can be found here

The Liberal government is making clean energy a priority, and the CPA looks forward to promoting propane’s place in Canada’s sustainable energy mix through its tiny carbon footprint and high efficiency.
Hydro-Québec is now offering financial assistance to residents of Îles-de-la-Madeleine that switch from electricity to propane, enabling islanders to significantly cut their heating costs.
The regulatory authority responsible for the storage and handling of propane in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Engineering & Inspections division of Service NL, is trying to determine if it is necessary to adopt the CPA’s recommended implementation periods for the new pressure relief valve (PRV) servicing requirements.
