NEW – NB and PEI: CPA files recommendations for propane in pre-budget submissions

The CPA filed submissions for the pre-budget consultations in advance of the 2021 budgets in the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. In both submissions, the CPA outlined four recommendations:

  1. That the governments work with the propane industry to develop an off-oil program that will result in immediate reduction of GHGs by switching from heating oil to propane.
  2. That the governments show their commitment to immediate reductions in GHGs within the transportation sector through the replacement or conversion of light to medium sized vehicles in the respective provincial fleets, with propane.
  3. That the governments commit to incentivizing for the immediate reductions in GHGs in private fleets through the replacement of or conversion of light to medium-sized diesel and gas vehicles to vehicles powered by propane.
  4. Prioritize research into renewable propane.

Similar to the approach in Nova Scotia, the CPA will follow up with provincial officials to discuss the advantages of expanding the use of propane in the province.
